Prayer For Mindanao As Our Common Home

Bathala, Abba, Magbabanwa
O God of all creation
Of all that is and will be

All praise, gratitude and deep reverence
for the wonders of your creation
especially for Mindanao as our Common Home.

In moments when your children forget
To appreciate your goodness and beauty
In the gift of creation
We beg for your mercy.
In our selfishness and lack of fervor
To protect nature, forgive us.

With bended knees and hopeful hearts
We beg for your love and divine intervention
We desire for our forest to remain intact
For our mountains and clean waters to remain life giving.

As we are give life in your breath of life
We partake of sacred duty to be life giving
To be bearers of life
But we are limited by our own actions

Illumine the hearts of your faithful
Especially our leaders and public servants
Tasked to make decisions
Affecting Mindanao and the nation
For generations to come

May your spirit of Wisdom,
Enlightenment, Justice and Charity
Reverberate in their hearts
Grant them a discerning heart
Attentive to the voice of your spirit

For the peoples of Mindanao
And its local communities
May ancestral lands remain with the Lumads
To cradle tomorrow’s children and
Mindanao as Our Common Home

May we become unwavering in faith and
Trusting in your goodness and protection
in this of pandemic, climate change
and human-induced disasters.

Grant that all communities, agencies,
persons who are actively engaged
to help protect Mindanao
may be your voice in public hearings
and consultations.
May you bless their humble work,
including those for the poor and hidden works.

We place our trust in you,
O Father, our creator,
through Your Son Jesus our Lord
in the unity of Your Spirit.
