Robinsons Cybergate Davao | Robinsons Supermarket Davao

May 10th, 2009

Robinsons Cybergate Davao has opened last Friday May 8, 2009. The Robinsons Supermarket is also already open and they are having a 3-day sale from May 8, 9 and 10, 2009. So is you shop more in the supermarket you can save more. The prices of goods in the Supermarket are lower in our observation based on the good we usually buy in Gaisano Mall and Park n’ Shop. Robinsons Supermarket operating hours is from 10AM to 9PM on weekdays and 9AM to 9PM on weekends - Saturdays and Sundays.

There is also a Handyman Do-It-Best near the grocery for your electrical and hardware needs. There are are also appliances inside the supermarket, at the back section.

Its parking lot is said to be able to accommodate 100 cars at one time. But when we got there there were more cars coming in and it was already full. A light traffic was building up outside. I hope they find a way to deal with this concern to avoid causing traffic on the road.

There are a few dining places like the one we tried - Bangkok Wok serving Thai cuisine in Davao. I wonder if they are related to BangkokWok.com website which I found today. This place is a must try. One of their house specialty, Gai Hor Bai Toey (five pieces for P185/serving) or boneless chicken wrapped in pandan leaves is juicy and delicious. It is more delicious when you order Kao Ob Subparod (P140 good for two) or fried rice with sausage served with pineapple.

Of course after dining out, if you wanna have coffee while chatting with friends and family there is Tata Benito’s A Whole LATTE Love which has transferred there from their first branch which used to be located inside the World Palace Compound in Juna Subd., DC.

Other establishments found at Robinsons Cybergate Davao are: Mercury Drug, Fuji Film, H20 Salon and Spa, and CD-R King. Soon to open are Dunkin Donuts, Robinsons Savings Bank, Sun Cellular, and a call center which is said to be the biggest in Mindanao.

SM City Davao confessions of love Valentine wall of greetings

We had a chance to see this so-called Confessions of Love | Valentine Wall of Greetings @SM City Davao last Valentine’s Day 2009. We were not able to take part of it thought simply because we had no pen and what was there was a small sheet of red cartolina and a red pentel pen too. :)

Christmas Decors at Mana Davao

December 28th, 2008

Christmas in Davao has been made more unique because of the Christmas decors displayed in Mana Davao at Mana Compound, J.P. Laurel Avenue, Davao City (near Kar Asia Bajada) which draws people to visit the place at night when the Christmas lights are turned on because of their beautiful and very attractive colorful Christmas display which has a different theme each year. The lights are turned on every night when it gets dark until midnight as the guard told us.

Davaoenos just like us (who really set out a date that we must not miss visiting Mana Davao especially this year that we live closer to it unlike before) actually look forward to Mana Davao’s Christmas decors display every year during Christmas. Many people go there at night and sometimes it causes a little traffic as cars, taxis, and other vehicles stop by or slow down to take a look at this wonderful view at night. It has somehow become a mini park if I may call it as families with kids, group of friends, office mates, photo enthusiasts go there and take souvenir pictures. If you happen to be in Davao this holiday season then check out this place and do not forget t bring your camera for those sought after souvenir photos of course.

I like the feeling sitting with my son in this little red Christmas house as I call it. Wish we have one like this right at home. My nephews would really enjoy and love it!

And I wish we also have Christmas trees as decorated and as big as this! :)

And for those who wanna make a wish on a star, it is just within your reach at Mana Davao. But there is a sign there that says “off limits” which means do not touch the display, only take home as much souvenir photos as you can but do not bring home any souvenir decors nor do any damage with the wondrous display.

Davao City’s Giant Christmas Tree

November 27th, 2008

Merry Christmas!!!

The giant lighted Christmas tree outside Victoria Plaza in Davao City has already been lighted attracting more people there every night. Some if not most of the people you see there are taking photos of the giant Christmas trees with their cellphones, digital cameras and DSLRs. But most won’t leave the place without of course having a souvenir photo of themselves having the Christmas tree as their background. This is the tallest and biggest Christmas tree in Davao City. The 2008 Kadayawan festival was great for us being able to shoot during the Indak-indak sa Kadalanan (Street Dancing Competition) last Saturday, August 23, 2008. Here is a photo of a little Dabawenya smiling at us as their group was performing.
