It’s August once again and time for Dabawenyos to celebrate Kadayawan Festival 2009 from August 17 to 23, 2009 with the theme this year “Nahiusang Katawhan Nakigdait sa Kalibutan” (“One People in Communion with the Earth”). This year is the 24th year of the Kadayawan Festival.
The 2009 Kadayawan Festival is made up of Lumadnong Kasaulogan (Indigenous Peoples Festival) which is the core of the Kadayawan Festival which shows the culture and arts of our indigenous people; and Subay sa Lumadnong Kagikan (Contemporary Indigenous-motivated Celebrations) which shows the impact of contemporary artists and communities of the indigenous culture and traditions. The Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan, Floral Float parade, search for Hiyas ng Kadayawan, are among the Kadayawan activities that most people look forward to. Check out the Kadayawan events this August 2009 here. More of Kadayawan 2009 at the official website at www.kadayawan.com.

Robinsons Cybergate Davao has opened last Friday May 8, 2009. The Robinsons Supermarket is also already open and they are having a 3-day sale from May 8, 9 and 10, 2009. So is you shop more in the supermarket you can save more. The prices of goods in the Supermarket are lower in our observation based on the good we usually buy in Gaisano Mall and Park n’ Shop. Robinsons Supermarket operating hours is from 10AM to 9PM on weekdays and 9AM to 9PM on weekends – Saturdays and Sundays.
There is also a Handyman Do-It-Best near the grocery for your electrical and hardware needs. There are are also appliances inside the supermarket, at the back section.
Its parking lot is said to be able to accommodate 100 cars at one time. But when we got there there were more cars coming in and it was already full. A light traffic was building up outside. I hope they find a way to deal with this concern to avoid causing traffic on the road.
There are a few dining places like the one we tried – Bangkok Wok serving Thai cuisine in Davao. I wonder if they are related to BangkokWok.com website which I found today. This place is a must try. One of their house specialty, Gai Hor Bai Toey (five pieces for P185/serving) or boneless chicken wrapped in pandan leaves is juicy and delicious. It is more delicious when you order Kao Ob Subparod (P140 good for two) or fried rice with sausage served with pineapple.
Of course after dining out, if you wanna have coffee while chatting with friends and family there is Tata Benito’s A Whole LATTE Love which has transferred there from their first branch which used to be located inside the World Palace Compound in Juna Subd., DC.
Other establishments found at Robinsons Cybergate Davao are: Mercury Drug, Fuji Film, H20 Salon and Spa, and CD-R King. Soon to open are Dunkin Donuts, Robinsons Savings Bank, Sun Cellular, and a call center which is said to be the biggest in Mindanao.
