Kadayawan-Like Atmosphere, Fashion Show All Set for Miss Universe in Davao
Davao City is gearing up to for the visit of Miss Universe candidates on January 19, 2017 at SM Lanang Premier.
From 1pm to 1:30pm, a warm and festive welcome awaits candidates of the largest international beauty pageant at the mall’s Grand Boulevard.
To showcase the Mindanaoan spirit, around 300 street dancers in elaborate and colorful costumes will perform high-energy cultural dances to the native beat of the agong for the Miss Universe bets as they pass the roads within the vicinity of SM Lanang up until they reach Park Inn Davao.
The participating dancers are from three different schools – Sta. Ana National High School, Cabantian National High School and F. Bustamante National High School.
The Miss Universe candidates are scheduled to grace an ancillary event – the Mindanao Tapestry fashion show – slated on Thursday at SMX Convention Center Davao at the 3rd level of SM Lanang Premier. Wearing ensembles by Davaoeño designers, the show aims to highlight the unique fabrics developed in MIndanao. Pre-show starts at 4pm and main show starts at 6pm.
The Davao visit of Miss Universe is presented by Phoenix Petroleum in partnership with the Miss Universe Organization.
