Kadayawan Fiesta Celebration at Apo View Hotel Davao from August 6-19, 2012
Hubby and I made a quick trip to Apo View Hotel after lunch last August 7 to check out what they have in store for their Kadayawan Fiesta Celebration 2012 at Apo View Hotel Davao which will run from August 6-19, 2012. This two-week annual event at Apo View is now on its 5th year already.
Admission is FREE so bring your family, friends, guests and tourist-friends there.
Here are some photos I could share for now which were taken before they had their Opening Salvo event that happened later that afternoon last Tuesday…

Kadayawan Festival being a celebration of a bountiful harvest, hotel guests and visitors will see these fruits displayed at the center upon entering the hotel’s main lobby.
Here are the displayed fashion creations of Davao’s homegrown designers that one can see at the Entree Hallway…

Kadayawan Art Exhibit by visual artist Ronald Tamfalan from the Tiboli tribe who graciously posed for us. His artworks on display are mostly oil painting on Tinalak (hand-woven cloth made from abaca fiber) and it is considered as a cultural heritage of the Tiboli tribe in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato where Ronald said he gets the Tinalak that he uses for his painting. He can do your portraits if you hire him and he sells most of his art works like those here shown on the photo.
If you may wish to contact him for his services or buy his paintings, you may visit him there at his exhibit area at Apo View until the 19th of this month. Ronald is from Kiamba, Saranggani. He told us that most of his clients are from Davao City. As he had mentioned to us, he is among the artists listed and recognized by the Kalinawa Art Foundation.
This is the Kadayawan Bazaar that Olan mentioned to me which is one of the reason I went there. You’ll find it at the hotel’s main lobby and foyer.
There are bonsai trees for sale…
Now I took a little time looking at these Davao key chains. I wonder if my friends in Manila would like to have one of these…
We were not able to take a photo of the booth of DB’s Leah V. where they were selling cupcakes. Hubby and I were too shy to approach and they were busy fixing something at that time when we were in that area. Will try to check them out if ever we get a chance to go back there. And they’re selling cupcakes which gives a foodie like me a reason to check them out next time.
Before I forget… upon arriving at the hotel, there are various local sweets and food, fresh fruits like marang, lanzones, mangosteen and pomelo for sale by box which are on display outside.
These boxed Nenita premium pomelos from are sold at P650/box which is about 5 kilos with 7 or 8 pieces of pomelos inside according to the lady selling it. I saw some hotel guests leaving mostly carrying a box or two of these.
Durian Jam for sale which reminded me of what my daddy used to buy before.
Lola Abon’s Mangosteen Candy for sale. I remember some friends in Manila used to ask me to buy these or the fresh mangosteen fruit when I get a chance to.
Lola Abon’s durian stick and cube candies sold by pack. It reminds me of our company guests before from HongKong and Japan would ask me to buy these then for them everytime they come for an official visit.
Or one can always buy the fresh fruits – mangosteen, lanzones and marang (which is a fave of my former boss from Manila… you should see him eat the marang with gusto).
These photos were taken only with my trusty phone SGS3 during our short trip there. Will add more photos once we’ve uploaded those taken with our camera.
Before you leave Apo View, you may want to check out Pagcor’s VIP Club located inside the hotel. Your guests may want to have a little fun before going to your next destination to go to in Davao City.
