GCash, a leading mobile money platform in the Philippines recently launched GCash For Good in Manila, Cebu and Davao City. It is their corporate social responsibility program where Filipinos can donate to non-government organizations (NGOs) that champion worthy advocacy varying from education, environment to animal welfare among others. It was launched last June 4, 2019 in Davao City at Park Inn by Radisson Hotel.

GCASH FOR GOOD is a program worth supporting being the corporate social responsibility of GCASH which allows GCash app users and prospect users of this mobile app who want to easily support worthy NGOs by donating online using funds in their GCash account. GCash has paved the way to connect more people – the community of so-called “do gooders” or givers that they want to build and connect to these respective partner NGOs that people can give help to financially to be able to push their worthy causes or advocacy.

Any amount even as small as P1 can be donated and will be truly appreciated. If you can donate more online thru this, that’s really good of you! If you are up to something bigger than yourself and wish to do something good for others and become socially relevant, this program is one way of actually helping.

If you can easily buy various material or non-essential stuff online, sacrificing for that same amount you spend which will be for the benefit of other people. It can bring meaning to your life by donating to your chosen NGO partner who are part of GCash For Good program. Your P1 online donation or perhaps P100 or more, can go a long way for their NGO partners’ respective advocacy campaigns, causes and programs.

GCash is targetting 100 NGOs to be part of this nationwide program. So far there are 35 NGOs already. If you know of any NGO in Davao City and Mindanao, which can benefit from this particular program, please reach out to GCash.

GCash VP for Corporate Communications Reyner Villasenor is calling on all NGOs in Davao City and nearby cities and provinces to join the GCash for Good as their partners in spreading good to all.

“With GCash for Good, GCash users can use the GCash app to donate to various groups to create an impact on society. This allows GCash to be a more inclusive and open platform that will help create better opportunities for millions of Filipinos. I am calling on all our NGO friends in Davao region and in the whole of Mindanao to join us as we spread the power of good through GCash,” Villasenor said.

For interested NGOs, some regulatory requirements need to be completed before becoming official GCash for Good partners to ensure the organizations are legitimate and the money donated cannot be abused.

The GCash for Good program currently involves 35 NGOs, which are included in the initial batch after completing their documentation requirements both from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and Mynt before the program was launched. The program has already been launched in Manila and Cebu.

During the GCash for Good launch in Davao City, Villasenor said that these days more people prefer to donate online. Based on a study by 2017 Global Trends in Giving, 54 percent of people prefer to donate online, while the total volume of donations made online increased by 12.1 percent. There is indeed a growing trend in micro-donations and crowdfunding. According to Tech’s Good, micro-donations range between $0.25 and $10. This amount of donations while it looks small, can make a huge difference in total.

“With innovative mobile money technology like GCash, people who want to do good are now empowered with a more efficient experience. Any amount will create huge opportunities for organizations that forward different issues. With GCash for Good, users will also have direct access to where their donations go. It showcases a more transparent ad user-friendly interface for anyone to access, ” Villasenor stressed.
