Many stray dogs can be spotted along Diamond Village
and in near places along Mamay Road.
Recently some residents have learned to use a leash when
they walk their dogs outside their houses.

CITY ORDINANCE NO. 1457

An ordinance prohibiting the loosening or letting astray of dogs/cattle in the City of Davao providing for the catching and impounding of the same collection of fees for impounding them providing further for their disposition when not claimed within a certain period and providing for penalty in case of violation thereof.

Section 7 – Dogs/Cattle shall be considered stray if they are not accompanied by its owner and found wandering in streets, plazas, markets, school premises and other public places.

The impounding fee of each dog shall be at the rate of P 250.00 for the first day and an addition
of P 50.00 for the succeeding days. For cattle, P 1,000.00 for the first day and an addition of P 100.00 for the succeeding days.

>
Dogs impounded will be under the care of the Office of the City Veterinarian for 3 days only and
are subject for EUTHANASIA/MERCY KILLING thereafter.

>
Impounded dogs can be claimed only at the CITY POUND, MAA from 9:00 am-4:00 am. Monday
to Friday and until 11:00 a.m. only during Saturdays. (Payments will be received by the City Treasurer’s Office – Maa Slaughterhouse from 8 am to 2 pm, Monday to Friday and City Treasurer Main Office – Sangguniang Panglungsod Bldg. from 8 am to 5 pm Mondays to Thursdays and 8 am to 4:30 pm on Fridays).

 

REPUBLIC ACT. NO. 9482 (“Anti-Rabies Act of 2007”) imposes the following penalties:
> P 2,000.00 for pet owners who fail to have their dog registered and immunized;
> P 10,000.00 for those who refuse to have their dog placed under observation after it has bitten a person;
> P 25,000.00 for pet owners who refused to shoulder the medical expenses of the bitten person;
> P 500.00 for dog owners who refuse to put their dog on leash;
> P 5,000.00 per dog for those found guilty of trading dog for meat and imprisonment for one year to four years; and
> P 5,000.00 per act and imprisonment of one to 4 years for those who use electrocution as a method of euthanasia

ORDINANCE NO. 074-11.
An ordinance penalizing any person in actual or constructive possession of any dog found defecating upon another person’s private property or on commonly used properties such as roads, parks and playgrounds or on public properties.
> P 1,000.00 Administrative fine for the first and subsequent offenses.
> This ordinance shall not apply to guide dog accompanying any blind person.
