Unleashing The Hero In You: 2019 Philippine Pharmacists Association National Convention in Davao City

Davao City is the host of this year’s #PPhaNatCon2019.

More than 4,000 pharmacists will gather in Davao City for the Philippine Pharmacists Association, Inc. (PPha) 2019 National Convention. The five-day convention will be held from April 30 to May 1, 2019 in the Davao Convention and Trade Center along F. Torres Street, and at SMX Convention Center in SM Lanang Premier along J.P. Laurel Avenue, Davao City from May 2 to 4, 2019.

With the theme “Unleash the Hero in You: Pharmacists Rising Beyond Expectations,” the country’s group of licensed medication experts will gather in Davao City to showcase the significant role of pharmacists in improving health care.

On April 30, trade exhibits will highlight leading programs by pharmacists that contribute to the upholding standards of antimicrobial stewardship, rational use of medicines and medication adherence. Furthermore, health promotion initiatives by pharmacists which addresses risk factors of diseases will be shown.

The following day will see a forum for the PPhA national board and heads of local chapters and affiliate organizations.

PPhA President Dr. Yolanda R. Robles says the annual PPhA national convention is a testament to the dedication of pharmacists to help provide excellent medical services to the public.

From May 2 to 4, the PPhA Awards, plenary and breakout sessions, and gala night will be held.

International Pharmaceutical Federation Western Pacific Pharmaceutical Forum president John Jackson will be keynote speaker covering Continuing Professional Development (CPD), specifically environmental factors and global trends. The World Health Organization, Department of Health Assistant Secretary Enrique A. Tayag, and various pharmaceutical companies will also be present.

CPD on ethical and regulatory competence will be covered by speakers from FIP . the  Professional Regulatory Commission – Board of Pharmacy, and the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Association of the Philippines. CPD topics on professional and technical competence will likewise be discussed. The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and the Public Relations Society of the Philippines will also take part on the convention.

Supporting PPhA are fellow medical practitioners from the Philippine Society of Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism, Philippine College of Physicians and The Medical City. CPD on Social and Administrative Skills will be participated in by the speakers from Toast Masters, and the World Vision Development Foundation.

Honorable Davao City Mayor Sarah Duterte-Carpio will be present to discuss how pharmacists in her city helped deliver improved patient care in government facilities.

“The linkages among the Philippine Pharmacists Association, the national government agencies and local public institutions are crucial to the success of the profession in fulfilling their responsibilities to the nation” Robles added.
