SM City Davao along with the city’s homegrown visual artists from Tabula Rasa will be holding free art workshops on April 24(Friday) and 26(Sunday), 1:00 PM to 5:00PM at the Annex Event Center.

Tabula Rasa is a Latin phrase which means “clean slate”. “It is symbolic of masterpieces and artworks which starts from blank canvas,” artist Dinky Munda explains.

The Summer Art Workshop will cover different art forms like basic sculpture by Brando Cedeño, still life drawing by Teody Boylie “Bong” Perez, landscape drawing by Dinky Munda,figure drawing by Daryl Escallar and portrait drawing by Bai Manginsay.

Cedeño is a self-taught sculptor who runs one of Davao’s top advertising companies. Maginsay and Escallar both earned bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from University of the Philippines- Diliman and University of Santo Tomas, respectively. Munda on the other hand is a retired businessman with much exposure as well as passion for the arts while Perez is a UPMin professor with a PhD in Fine Arts.

We host the Tabula Rasa exhibit as an expression of support to our local artists. We have arranged for them to hold free workshops to help young aspiring artists discover their talents and develop their interest in the arts,” SM City Davao mall manager Lynette Lopez shares.

Aspiring sculptors are requested to bring ½ kg of clay material while those who wish to join the drawing sessions must bring letter sized bond papers, sharpener, and B & 6B pencils. Registration is ongoing at the Tabula Rasa exhibition located at the ground floor of the Annex.
