GCash For Good Program Launched and Looking For NGO Partners in Mindanao

GCash, a leading mobile money platform in the Philippines recently launched GCash For Good in Manila, Cebu and Davao City. It is their corporate social responsibility program where Filipinos can donate to non-government organizations (NGOs) that champion worthy advocacy varying from education, environment to animal welfare among others. It was launched last June 4, 2019 in Davao City at Park Inn by Radisson Hotel.

GCASH FOR GOOD is a program worth supporting being the corporate social responsibility of GCASH which allows GCash app users and prospect users of this mobile app who want to easily support worthy NGOs by donating online using funds in their GCash account. GCash has paved the way to connect more people – the community of so-called “do gooders” or givers that they want to build and connect to these respective partner NGOs that people can give help to financially to be able to push their worthy causes or advocacy.

Any amount even as small as P1 can be donated and will be truly appreciated. If you can donate more online thru this, that’s really good of you! GCASH LOOKING FOR NGO PARTNERS IN MINDANAO FOR GCASH FOR GOOD PROGRAM

GCash VP for Corporate Communications Reyner Villasenor is calling on all NGOs in Davao City and nearby cities and provinces to join the GCash for Good as their partners in spreading good to all.

“With GCash for Good, GCash users can use the GCash app to donate to various groups to create an impact on society. This allows GCash to be a more inclusive and open platform that will help create better opportunities for millions of Filipinos. I am calling on all our NGO friends in Davao region and in the whole of Mindanao to join us as we spread the power of good through GCash,” Villasenor said.

For interested NGOs, some regulatory requirements need to be completed before becoming official GCash for Good partners to ensure the organizations are legitimate and the money donated cannot be abused.

The GCash for Good program currently involves 35 NGOs, which are included in the initial batch after completing their documentation requirements both from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and Mynt before the program was launched. The program has already been launched in Manila and Cebu.

During the GCash for Good launch in Davao City, Villasenor said that these days more people prefer to donate online. Based on a study by 2017 Global Trends in Giving, 54 percent of people prefer to donate online, while the total volume of donations made online increased by 12.1 percent. There is indeed a growing trend in micro-donations and crowdfunding. According to Tech’s Good, micro-donations range between $0.25 and $10. This amount of donations while it looks small, can make a huge difference in total.

How to donate to the Gcash For Good using your GCash mobile app account?

Each respective NGO partner has its own QR Code or barcode. Log in to your GCash account, go to “My Dashboard” and look for “Pay QR” in the menu icons. Click that icon and scan the QR Ccode of the respective NGO you want to donate to. You can donate as low at P1. Remember every peso counts. But that does not mean that’s all you can share.
