Vikings Buffet Restaurant Opens in Davao City, Boosts Tourism

Tourists spend an average of ninety two dollars a day or around four thousand pesos. At least 22% of this amount is spent for food and beverage according to the Department of Tourism 2011 tourist profile report based on the Arrival and Departure Cards, Shipping Manifest and the Visitors Sample Survey.

“Food tourism is one good selling point of a destination. In fact, positive image of a place is propelled by good food and entertainment for guests,” DOT Regional Director Art Boncato shared.

New developments in the food and restaurant sector helps position Davao in the Tourism industry. Amidst peace and order concerns in some parts of Mindanao, Davao continues to gain positive investments with a roster of big stores recently opened like French Baker and M&S. Already on soft opening is Vikings Lanang.

Vikings is the largest buffet restaurant in the country with at least six hundred capacity. Located at the SM Lanang Premier, Davao City’s Viking branch has a capacity of five hundred (500) for its seating guests.

Vikings Lanang is the first branch outside of Metro Manila. “This only proves the Davao’s marketability in terms of investments is truly high. The potential for business growth is promising,” City Tourism Officer Lisette Marquez bared.

The first of its kinds in Davao dining, Vikings features full live show kitchen in all the seven stations. The actual cooking will not only show high-quality and fresh food but will entertain the guests on how their food is prepared.

“Each Vikings branch has its own unique interior. We encourage guests to “travel” from one branch to another, as a true Vikings would from one uncharted territory to another. Vikings Mall of Asia has the more Nordic theme with elements of the Vikings ship incorporated into the interior. Vikings Marikina has a more homey vintage feel to it, and it also boasts the longest buffet table in all or our Vikings branches. Vikings North Edsa has a classy black & white theme. Vikings Lanang in Davao City, the first Vikings branch outside Metro Manila and first in the province area, has a modern Filipino theme,” Marketing Director Mr. Charles Stewart Lee enthused.

According to Vikings Director Mr. Anderson Hao, they chose Davao City because it is a growing city. “We thought it would be a good time to show the Dabawenyos a new way of dining. Something that they’ve never experienced before. A luxury buffet that’s out of the hotel but at an affordable price.”

Vikings puts premium on Philippines festivals and Filipinos love for food. “We wanted to enhance the experience of “Feast” in Davao City by providing the Dabawenyos with a variety of cuisines beyond imagination. At the same time, we also noticed that the Dabawenyos LOVES to eat, and there’s no better place to do that but in Vikings,” he further explained.

For the Vikings promos, the birthday celebrant gets to eat for free WITHIN 3 days before and 3 days after their actual birthdate, and on the actual day of birthday as long as accompanied by one full paying adult and an ID for proof of birth date. While for groups, a minimum of ten (10) pax will entitle two more guests of the said group to eat for free. The Senior Citizen privilege is 20% discount for 60 to 74 year old guest while 75 years old and above us entitled for 50% off.

Future branches to open are Vikings SM Megamall, Vikings Jazz Mall Makati, and a third branch that’s a new brand called NiU by Vikings located in SM Aura Premier. This new brand will be an upscale version of Viking. For more details log on to their website. – Vikings Luxury Buffet Philippines
