Mindanao fresh grads get competitive nationally
JobStreet.com Reports on Salaries and Job Opportunities in Mindanao 2016.
The average salary for a fresh graduate in Mindanao is PhP16,664, higher than the national average of PhP16,582 and only edged out by the Provincial Luzon average of PhP20,084. Mindanao’s newly employed earn more than their Visayas (PhP16,404) and National Capital Region (PhP15,538) counterparts.
Mindanao’s fresh graduates specializing in Information Technology (IT), customer service, and hospitality are the highest paid in the region, earning an average of PhP22,529, PhP19,087, and PhP19,476, respectively. Mindanao’s new IT specialists are only a few pesos shy from the national average, while customer service and hospitality-related specialists earn more than their national, Visayas, and even NCR counterparts.
Meanwhile, those specializing in IT, marketing, and engineering get top pay among Mindanao’s junior executives. Compared to their average salaries last year, both IT and marketing specialists in the junior executive level earned more this year.
Mindanao employees in the supervisory level earn PhP26,802 on the average, with those in IT, customer service, and engineering topping the list of highest salary earners in the area. The average salaries of the top three supervisory specializations all increased this year compared to their averages last year. Finally, engineering, finance, and sales managers get the highest salaries in Mindanao. It should be noted that sales-related managers in Mindanao get paid higher on the average compared to their counterparts in Visayas and Provincial Luzon by 2% and 10% percent, respectively.
On the other hand, call center and BPO, retail, and manufacturing offer the most jobs in Mindanao. While the call center industry is consistent in offering the most opportunities to fresh graduates, junior executives, and supervisors, the retail industry in Mindanao is number one in the most jobs for assistant managers and managers. For fresh graduates, property and real estate is third in the most in-demand jobs list, overtaking manufacturing.
Most in-demand Mindanao Jobs
The report, as JobStreet.com Philippines Country Manager Philip A. Gioca said, “reflects the company’s belief that there are indeed increasing job opportunities outside of Metro Manila. With the cost of living in Mindanao relatively lower than in NCR, the competitive salaries offered by local companies there should afford employees a comfortable lifestyle without having to leave their hometowns.”
