Sarah Geronimo’s The Great Unknown Unplugged Concert Live in Davao City held last March 3, 2017 at the SMX Convention Center at SM Lanang Premier was the first concert I watched at SMX Davao.

The Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo sang songs from her 12th album, The Great Unknown, which was released in December 2015 by Viva Records.

Trivia:  In December 2016, The Great Unknown won as the Album of the Year at the 29th Awit Awards.

She sang the song Kaibigan Mo which is part of her latest album. She collaborated with fellow singer Yeng Constantino (she wasn’t in the concert though) and Hale in making that particular song. It’s one of the fave songs of her fans from the album.

Sarah sang Only For You, Unbroken, Misteryo, Sabihin Mo Sa Akin and Tala from her album.

Then  Hale came out onstage to perform a few of their songs!  Okay calm down girls!

The crowd was obviously looking forward to Sarah’s special guests on the show.

Hale sang their songs – The Day You Said Goodnight and Kung Wala Ka.

Sarah then sang the song The Great Unknown featuring Hale.

One surprise during the concert was when Sarah had a duet with her dad, Delfin Geronimo.

The father and daughter tandem sang an old popular song, You’ve Got A Friend. It’s their theme song.

She then sang Ikot Ikot towards the later part of the show where she belted out her singing prowess to the delight of the audience especially her cheering fans. Ikot Ikot is from another album “Expressions“.

She also sang “Kilometro” from her Perfectly Imperfect album as the fans cheered and sang along with her. Now this is one of her songs that I am quite familiar with.

She indeed has a beautiful voice. In recent years, I have admired how she has reinvented herself and her ability to dance well while singing which I get to see usually when I find time to watch TV in ASAP on Sundays. Plus the night before her Davao concert, I was watching videos of her on Youtube and she was singing and dancing in all those videos. Yes the concert was unplugged. We honestly just kind of expected for her to somehow perform a song and dance number even just one aside from the songs from her The Great Unknown album. At one point, we thought she was going to give in to the people’s chant for her to dance. *wink*

She sang Forever’s Not Enough, a Vehnee Saturno song she popularized for her finale. It’s from her first album Popstar: A Dream Come True in 2003.

This was a fun part for me and mommy V as we belted out singing along with Sarah during the chorus part when Sarah let the audience sing. Good thing the people in our front row didn’t mind us singing out loud. In fairness, we could sing that song and yes, we love that song of Sarah! We all have probably belted out that song in one of our karaoke sessions since that song became popular 14 years ago. 🙂

Sarah thanked DAVAO as she waved to the fans and everyone in the crowd. A photo opp session with fans followed. For the popsters in Davao, this was indeed a night to remember for them seeing their idol.

The Davao Digital Influencers gave away ten (10) GOLD tickets for the concert to the lucky winners of the Facebook and Instagram contest. We hope they enjoyed the concert!

Philippines Airlines – one of the major sponsors, was the official carrier of Sarah G, her whole concert team and Hale. The concert was for the benefit of the House of Hope for Kids with cancer in Davao.

The Sarah G. Davao concert was SOLD OUT!  Initially when I heard about the concert, the general admission tickets were already sold out. On the day of the concert at past 6PM, there was already a very long line of people going in SMX concert venue. The line stretched out and reached in front of the Fiftea store in SM Lanang Premier. I saw the end of the line as I was going up the escalator and I even thought I was still early! I was able to get inside the concert venue earlier than I thought ahead of our friends – Ian, Glen, mommy Verna and Therese who came earlier and were still waiting in line then as I went to look for the 911 medic for something. With that I got in the venue early and was able to reserve the seats for our whole team. 

Overall it was a good concert night in Davao. Thank you Roxy for the Grab Taxi Ride going home, also to Alyssa, Mommy Ana for the fun ride and walk home after the concert! Also to the Grab Taxi driver who smiled to our endless chat and laughter the whole ride home that night. I had fun watching the concert with bloggers and vloggers friends from the Davao Digital Influencers’ family. Thank you #TeamDDI for the fun Friday concert night!

Thank you for the shared decent and wonderful photos from our good friends from Davao Digital Influencers.  Gold tickets were seated far away from the stage. Estimate of 30 rows from the stage and with only a smartphone camera in hand. I’ll be sharing my share of photos in a separate blog post here when am done uploading so many photos over this great weekend. I’m grateful for this wonderful treat to my first concert experience at SMX Convention Center in Davao City.
