Onions
It is the season of colds and cough lately as I see some people getting sick with colds, cough and sore throat for some.
So I bought some onions from a neighborhood store hoping it may help somehow…
Just sharing what someone sent me about this:
Placing sliced onions near you, especially at night, is a folk remedy believed to help soothe coughs by potentially thinning mucus and making it easier to clear.
How it’s believed to work:
Some believe the strong vapors released when cutting an onion can help loosen mucus and soothe overactive coughs by relaxing the smooth muscle in the trachea.
Onions contain compounds that may have antimicrobial properties, which could help fight chest infections.
Onions are also thought to contain expectorant properties that can help loosen mucus and reduce coughing.
How to do it:
Cut an onion into quarters or slices.
Place the sliced onion on a plate near your bed or at the foot of the bed.
Some people also suggest placing a peeled onion under the bed.
You can also make a poultice by lightly sauteing onions and applying them to your chest.
Important Considerations:
While many people swear by this remedy, there isn’t strong scientific evidence to support its effectiveness.
The onion remedy is often considered a placebo effect.
If your cough is severe or persistent, it’s important to consult with a doctor.
Onions are also known to have other health benefits, such as being a good source of vitamin C and containing compounds that may help fight infections.
Giving medications preferably herbal and trying not to give the big pharma meds if possible with side effects. Rest is also very important and removing stress.
People please practice sneezing and coughing hygiene at all times. COVER and DO NOT EVER be part of spreading the virus to other people even to family, friends, workmates or neighbors.
Take care, stay healthy everyone and get well to those who are sick.
