Many Kapamilyas as most Davaoenos and Cebuanos are excited with ABS-CBN’s newest product innovation. We have been seeing the original TVplus product displayed at malls and sometimes when we are out of the house we would honestly stop for awhile and watch especially when the showing our fave ABS CBN shows. Honestly too, we don’t watch as much TV anymore for years now and we choose the few TV shows we turn the TV on for and watch.
Last December 4, 2017, I along with other mommies from the Davao Digital Influencers together with our good friends from the media and ABS-CBN attended the Davao City launch held at 6PM in the Garnet Room of The Pinnacle Hotel & Suites.
ABS-CBN TVplus, the country’s first digital terrestrial television product, which transformed the TV viewing experience of many Filipinos for so many years has launched its internet-ready DTT boxes branded as ABS-CBN TVplus Internet in select areas for now only in Davao and in Cebu.
This newest innovation from ABS-CBN TVplus allows ‘Kapamilyas’ and households to enjoy wireless internet connectivity on top of access to more content choices like free exclusive channels and a weekly movie feature in clear picture and sound.
Indeed my boys and I are interested in the TVplus as we wish to have a clearer TV reception when we watch our favorite Kapamilya TV shows.
ABS-CBN is transitioning into a digital company and it is said to be the first media organization to offer DTT service in the Philippines when in 2015 it launched ABS-CBN TVplus, which offers exclusive channels like CineMo, an all-day movie channel; YeY, an all-day children’s entertainment channel; Knowledge Channel, an educational channel that airs curriculum-based programs; DZMM TeleRadyo, which offers the live broadcast of programs from DZMM Radyo Patrol 630; and ABS-CBN S+A for live coverage of sports events.
Yey which happens to be my son’s favorite channel now in TVPlus and for some reason mine as well for now. Knowledge Channel which is a very good addition in my opinion to our choices of channels to watch for us at home now. S+A for Sports and Action which is my hubby’s favorite channel among those available as he can watch his favorite basketball game. All these channels we can watch in a now clearer TV reception. Thanks to ABS-CBN for the TVplus internet.
Hubby immediately installed the TVplus when I got home. They weren’t obviously excited. What do you think? :))
The launch of the ABS-CBN TVplus Internet follows ABS-CBN’s announcement after it has sold 4 million ABS-CBN TVplus units as of November since the pioneering DTT service in the Philippines that was launched in 2015.
“It was only a dream back then for Filipinos who endure poor quality TV viewing to watch crystal clear TV. We made that dream come true two years ago, and now with 4 million TVplus units sold, more homes experience the benefits of DTT,” ABS-CBN head of digital terrestrial television (DTT) Chinky Alcedo said.
Powered by the ABS-CBN mobile prepaid broadband stick, the new ABS-CBN TVplus Internet box functions as a WiFi Hotspot that owners can connect to the internet to open built-in apps on the television where the box is installed. The internet-ready box allows up to four devices to connect.
Integrating affordable prepaid internet gives users the power to decide on their data usage by choosing from ABS-CBNmobile’s promos including KSURF99 (1GB for 30 days), KSURF199 (2.5GB for 30 days), and KSURF30 (350MB for 7 days).
The hubby reminded me that given another old internet service provider company already charges P299 for 1.5GB usage, therefore, this ABS CBN KSURF promo offer appears to be a better option for Kapamilyas. Also note that, these promos mentioned above are their more affordable prepaid internet rates. It was also good to know during the open forum at the launch when I asked about it that they have higher options for rates for data usage for families who use more data usage per month. Especially as a mom who blogs, I also upload many photos online. Plus the hubby has even higher data usage when it comes to the internet. This added TVplus internet will serve as my much sought after back up at home in case our old ISP will experience downtime especially this Christmas break in this busy holiday season, though I sincerely hope not.
Among the built-in apps is iWant TV Express which is a simplified version of iWant TV and can only be accessed using the ABS-CBNmobile prepaid broadband stick. Users can watch for free the latest episodes of Kapamilya shows and stream movies through paid access by subscribing to any KSURF promo. On the other hand, users can like, react, and share photos on the built in Facebook app, while the built-in Wikipedia allows users to search information on the free online encyclopedia.
Alcedo also said that the internet-ready DTT boxes were launched outside Metro Manila to serve Filipinos who are in more need to experience the benefits of DTT.
“Areas in Cebu and Davao have great potential, but these are areas where there are less choices for our Kapamilyas. It’s really from that standpoint that we want to try to fill in the gaps so they can also access more choices in terms of content and affordable internet connectivity through TVplus,” she explained.
ABS-CBN TVplus Internet will be available in Davao City starting tomorrow, December 8, 2017 for a one-time payment fee of P2,999. It can be purchased in NCCC Hardware Maxx, Gaisano Grand, LYR Marketing, Rubi Grand Showroom and Alfa Furniture Company outlets in Davao City. Source: ABS CBN
We are yet to try the internet part as of this writing. I plan to try it after the school exams of our little guy. He is actually very excited to know it also comes with INTERNET ACCESS. We will try to give an update on that on our social media accounts of @DavaoLifedotcom in Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. So make sure you follow us and like our page!
Have an entertaining holiday season with your new ABS CBN TVplus internet Kapamilyas and fellow Davaoenos!
