White Christmas Bazaar 2010 at Garden Oases Davao
For it’s second year, do not miss the White Christmas Bazaar II 2010 Garden Oases Convention Center Davao City that starts today December 03 to 5, 2010. I wish we can drop by there this time around. We missed the first one last year. We have been to the Christmas Bazaar in Davcon last week. I hope this one have more and better choices for Christmas bazaar shoppers in town this holiday season.
This year the White Christmas Bazaar will be for the benefit of the icanserve Foundation Inc. You can shop for christmas decors, variety of gift items, clothes, baby items, accessories, jewelries, shoes, bags, and a lot of other stuff. There will be items to be auctioned for the benefit of the foundation from two local celebrities like Tweetie De leon and Angel Jacob according to the FB page set up for this speciific event.
Pasko Fiesta Davao | Pailaw sa Davao December 2010
It is the first day of December 2010 and tonight at five in the afternoon at the People’s Park Davao will be the launching of “Pasko Fiesta” in Davao City led by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. There will be an event launched tonight called “Pailaw sa Davao” with the launch of the interactive musical water fountain. This will be enjoyed by the people of the city every night for the whole month of December from 6PM to 8PM according to Acting Davao City Administrator Atty. Zuleika Lopez.
There are also two carousel rides near the Davao City Hall at Rizal Park for the people especially the kids in the city to enjoy and I think it is for free like last year.
Happy Pasko Fiesta to all Dabawenyos!!!
Christmas in Gold
We wanted to buy decors at SM Davao when we passed by their Christmas display and I noticed this Christmas greeting written in gold in this huge red ball covered in glitters. It just reminds me however of this idea once again of being able to buy gold bullion when I saw those letterings in gold. How I could really wish we could just easily make an investment like that these days. I do remember friends wishing too that they could protect whatever wealth their family has and invest it in something as valuable and worthy as these precious unique investments in gold.
Sunset | Felis Resort
This is something I really missed and that is watching sunset at the Felis Resort Davao overlooking the Mount Apo. This was taken two and half years ago. I am surprised at how times flies. This is something I enjoyed when we still lived down south because you get to see the beauty of the sunset each afternoon. The sun has hidden already at this point behind the big cloud over the mountain. I love the serenity, peace and calm of watching sunsets here at this place suring afternoons. Wish we can do it again someday soon.
Bigby’s Cafe & Restaurant Davao | Christmas Star Lantern
Bigby’s Cafe & Restaurant Davao | Christmas Star Lantern

The boys and I, after attending the morning mass, were able to have our Sunday brunch at Biby’s cafe at the MetroLifestyle compound which was already open at 10:00 AM that is on Sundays. I was actually interested in their Christmas decors knowing this restaurant to have good interior design and decors as well. They have good food as well that are worth your food trip when in Davao City.
Our little boy was really fascinated with this Christmas star lantern when we arrived until before we left. It was the first thing he noticed when we arrived. I wonder where they got this made but it might be one of the lanterns in the contest that they may seem to have.
Their store hours at Bigby’s Cafe & Restaurant Davao Torres on Mondays to Thursdays is from 11:00AM until 11:oo PM. On Fridays to Saturdays, they are open from 11:00Am until 12:00 midnight. Then on Sundays, they are open from 10:00 Am until 10:00 PM.
Christmas Wish
There is a Christmas wish promo at Antonio’s Bar and Grill Davao one of the good restaurants in town. I wish I can join this but it is only open for kids. They are ready for Christmas!
If I were a kid I would write my wish that my parents would be able to buy gold just like those being offered at the USGB. It will be a unique investment in precious metals that any parent would be proud of to give for their children’s future. I wonder if Antonio’s would ever grant such a unique wish. It will be one precious gift indeed this Christmas.

Marco Polo Davao’s Christmas Tree

Kadayawan Festival 2009
It’s August once again and time for Dabawenyos to celebrate Kadayawan Festival 2009 from August 17 to 23, 2009 with the theme this year “Nahiusang Katawhan Nakigdait sa Kalibutan” (“One People in Communion with the Earth”). This year is the 24th year of the Kadayawan Festival.
The 2009 Kadayawan Festival is made up of Lumadnong Kasaulogan (Indigenous Peoples Festival) which is the core of the Kadayawan Festival which shows the culture and arts of our indigenous people; and Subay sa Lumadnong Kagikan (Contemporary Indigenous-motivated Celebrations) which shows the impact of contemporary artists and communities of the indigenous culture and traditions. The Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan, Floral Float parade, search for Hiyas ng Kadayawan, are among the Kadayawan activities that most people look forward to. Check out the Kadayawan events this August 2009 here. More of Kadayawan 2009 at the official website at www.kadayawan.com.

Robinsons Cybergate Davao | Robinsons Supermarket Davao
Robinsons Cybergate Davao has opened last Friday May 8, 2009. The Robinsons Supermarket is also already open and they are having a 3-day sale from May 8, 9 and 10, 2009. So is you shop more in the supermarket you can save more. The prices of goods in the Supermarket are lower in our observation based on the good we usually buy in Gaisano Mall and Park n’ Shop. Robinsons Supermarket operating hours is from 10AM to 9PM on weekdays and 9AM to 9PM on weekends – Saturdays and Sundays.
There is also a Handyman Do-It-Best near the grocery for your electrical and hardware needs. There are are also appliances inside the supermarket, at the back section.
Its parking lot is said to be able to accommodate 100 cars at one time. But when we got there there were more cars coming in and it was already full. A light traffic was building up outside. I hope they find a way to deal with this concern to avoid causing traffic on the road.
There are a few dining places like the one we tried – Bangkok Wok serving Thai cuisine in Davao. I wonder if they are related to BangkokWok.com website which I found today. This place is a must try. One of their house specialty, Gai Hor Bai Toey (five pieces for P185/serving) or boneless chicken wrapped in pandan leaves is juicy and delicious. It is more delicious when you order Kao Ob Subparod (P140 good for two) or fried rice with sausage served with pineapple.
Of course after dining out, if you wanna have coffee while chatting with friends and family there is Tata Benito’s A Whole LATTE Love which has transferred there from their first branch which used to be located inside the World Palace Compound in Juna Subd., DC.
Other establishments found at Robinsons Cybergate Davao are: Mercury Drug, Fuji Film, H20 Salon and Spa, and CD-R King. Soon to open are Dunkin Donuts, Robinsons Savings Bank, Sun Cellular, and a call center which is said to be the biggest in Mindanao.
Confessions of Love | Valentine Wall of Greetings @SM City Davao

We had a chance to see this so-called Confessions of Love | Valentine Wall of Greetings @SM City Davao last Valentine’s Day 2009. We were not able to take part of it thought simply because we had no pen and what was there was a small sheet of red cartolina and a red pentel pen too.
Christmas Decors at Mana Davao
Christmas in Davao has been made more unique because of the Christmas decors displayed in Mana Davao at Mana Compound, J.P. Laurel Avenue, Davao City (near Kar Asia Bajada) which draws people to visit the place at night when the Christmas lights are turned on because of their beautiful and very attractive colorful Christmas display which has a different theme each year. The lights are turned on every night when it gets dark until midnight as the guard told us.
Davaoenos just like us (who really set out a date that we must not miss visiting Mana Davao especially this year that we live closer to it unlike before) actually look forward to Mana Davao’s Christmas decors display every year during Christmas. Many people go there at night and sometimes it causes a little traffic as cars, taxis, and other vehicles stop by or slow down to take a look at this wonderful view at night. It has somehow become a mini park if I may call it as families with kids, group of friends, office mates, photo enthusiasts go there and take souvenir pictures. If you happen to be in Davao this holiday season then check out this place and do not forget t bring your camera for those sought after souvenir photos of course.
I like the feeling sitting with my son in this little red Christmas house as I call it. Wish we have one like this right at home. My nephews would really enjoy and love it!
And I wish we also have Christmas trees as decorated and as big as this!
And for those who wanna make a wish on a star, it is just within your reach at Mana Davao. But there is a sign there that says “off limits” which means do not touch the display, only take home as much souvenir photos as you can but do not bring home any souvenir decors nor do any damage with the wondrous display.

Davao City’s Giant Christmas Tree
Merry Christmas!!!
The giant lighted Christmas tree outside Victoria Plaza in Davao City has already been lighted attracting more people there every night. Some if not most of the people you see there are taking photos of the giant Christmas trees with their cellphones, digital cameras and DSLRs. But most won’t leave the place without of course having a souvenir photo of themselves having the Christmas tree as their background. This is the tallest and biggest Christmas tree in Davao City. Fountain
Bigby’s Cafe, one of the fine restaurants here in SM Davao City, has this fountain decor at their entrance. Can’t help but take a photo of it while waiting for our sumptuous lunch to be served. You should try Bigby’s when ever you are here in Davao.
Davao City at Night
A view of the part of Davao City at night taken in the roof deck of the Landco Corporate Center building in J.P. Laurel Avenue, Davao City. You can see in the right side part of Victoria Plaza, one of the malls here in Davao and also the old Durian Hotel (tall building on the upper right of this photo).
